Imagine.....

Download word art

Just think of all the things that little girls wish for and dream of....ponies, castles, unicorns.....

Then stop and think of what it must be like to be the girl whose biggest dream is to simply walk on her own.

My little buddy is that girl and with lots of work her dream is finally beginning to come true.  Her mother recorded these videos on Monday.....

Did you see that face?  Did you hear that laughter?  Did it bring tears to your eyes like it did mine?

All the things that we just do without even thinking about them Emmi thinks about about everyday.

We can help her!  We can make a huge difference in her life!

I totally stole this picture from her mom's Facebook page....

Emmi has the right shoes.  She has the dream and the desire.  She just needs a little support.

She is still $8,000 short of her GoFundMe goal.   Imagine what the support of a mobility dog could make in her life as she branches out and takes more steps.

Maybe, you're waiting for a payday to donate.  I can understand that!

Maybe, you're waiting to see how much she raises without your help.  Please remember that if we all sit back and wait we're missing out on an opportunity of a lifetime.  We're missing out on a chance to make a real difference in the life of someone who will never stop trying to improve and do more.

Maybe, you just can't donate anything no matter how much you wish you could.  I can understand that too!  If that's the case, then please share the link to Emmi's GoFundMe page.  With every share Emmi has a better chance of reaching her goal.

Remember, I will have a prize drawing for anyone that comments on my original Emmi post letting me know that they've donated and/or shared her GoFundMe page.

It may be time to let OCG go!

Download word art here

OK, I know that you guys have always been Team OCG, but I have a really good reason to cut ties and run.  Actually, I have TWO reasons!

I keep going back and forth between which of my two reason has me the most upset so I'm going to tell you about them in the order that they happened.

This weekend my friend Susan and I are going on a girl's weekend to North Carolina.  We've got tickets to Autumn at Oz.  That's when they open up the abandoned Oz theme park so that those us of who visited there as kids can go back and relive our youth.

We're also going to the Ghost Train event at Tweetsie Railroad.  Apparently, during the month of October they open Tweetsie Railroad up at night for their version of Disney's Halloween Horror Nights.  Again, going to Tweetsie Railroad is part of reliving my youth.

I'm really excited, but also a little scared.  I don't want these places to lose the magic they held for me as a kid and I'm afraid that visiting them as an adult just might cause that to happen.

Oh well, I'll deal with that when and if it happens.  Right now, I've got serious problems!

You see, I told OCG that when Susan and I get back from our trip that he and I need to plan my birthday trip to Gatlinburg.  He had the nerve to say that he wasn't sure if he wanted to go back so soon and that maybe we should go somewhere else since we spent so much time there this summer.

Can you believe that?!?!  What is he talking about anyway?!?!  I mean we haven't been there since July!

Also, he should know by now that one can never spend too much time in Gatlinburg!  Seriously, what's wrong with him?  It's like I don't even know him anymore!

As if that wasn't bad enough, he broke my toilet seat yesterday.

I'll spare you the details, but that's mostly because I didn't want to know them either. LOL!

Anyway, he came walking down the hall holding my broken toilet seat in his hand and laughing.  I wasn't laughing though!

ME: You broke my toilet seat?  Now what am I supposed to do when I have company?!
OCG:  First, company can use a different bathroom and secondly, we'll buy another toilet seat!

That didn't sound like much of an apology to me!

Seriously, no Gatlinburg and a broken toilet seat?  I just don't think our relationship is strong enough to handle this!

I'm good!

Download word art here

It's so funny how many people at my old school reach out to me (teachers and parents) with questions about my move.   My response is always the same...

.I'm happy.   I've rediscovered my love for teaching.  Changing schools was the best thing I could have ever done.

They're still miserable.....even the parents.....

THANK YOU!

***If you're feeling naughty come back tomorrow an get the "villain" version of this word art!***

The last time I checked Emmi's GoFundMe page she had raised $730 and the link to her site had been shared 238 times!  Do you have any idea how amazing that is?!?

I am happy that her donation page is doing so well, but we still need your help.  She is still far from the $9500 that she needs.  I really wish everyone that reads this could donate something ~ any amount at all ~ but I know that isn't possible.

Sharing the link is just as important though!  So please, help us spread the word about Emmi and her need for a service dog by sharing the link anywhere you with anyone you think can help with a donation or by also sharing the link.

The place that Emmi is working with to get her service dog is called Noelle's Dogs Four Hope and it sounds like such an amazing place.  I didn't realize that it was almost impossible for a child to receive a service.  Noelle's Dogs Four Hope is apparently one of the few places that will match a child in need with a dog.  Noelle's story is pretty amazing too!  She understands the difference these dogs can make in someone's life.

Don't forget to come back to my original Emmi post to let me know that you've shared the link and/or donated money toward her dog so that you can get in on my prize drawing!

Introducing Emmi.....

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Several years ago, after one of Sebastian's surgeries I went to visit him at the hospital and met Emmi and her mom.  They had come by to visit Sebastian too.  The first thing I noticed about Emmi was her smile, friendly manner and outgoing personality.  Even if Emmi had been too shy to talk to me it wouldn't have mattered.  I knew that Sebastian loved her and that alone was enough for me.

The second thing I noticed about Emmi was that she also had Arthrogryposis.  The same condition that Sebastian has.

If I remember the story correctly, Sebastian's mom and Pavielle, Emmi's mom, met through an online support group for parents of children with Arthrogryposis.  After speaking to each other online for awhile and realizing that they lived in the same area the two moms decided to meet at a local park and let the kids have a play date.  When Sebastian first saw Emmi he whispered to his mom, "Her arms look like mine."

For the first time, Sebastian had a friend that "looked" like him and his mother had a friend that understood the things that only another mother of a child with arthrogryposis could understand.  Instant bonds were made, more play dates were held and Sebastian often told me "Emmi stories".

(Yes, that is a young Sebastian with Emmi!)

I left Sebastian's hospital room a few minutes before Emmi and her mom did that day.  But, I made a stop in the gift store and ended up exiting the hospital after they did.  Once Emmi realized that I was behind them, she smiled and told me bye one more time as she looked over her mother's shoulder.  You see, her mom was carrying her because Emmi wasn't able to walk at all then.  She still only walks with the help of special braces.

Emmi and her mom live in Colorado now, but they remain an important part of Sebastian's life and that makes them important to me.  I'm hoping it will also make them important to you.

There is a GofundMe page to raise money for a service dog that will help Emmi with her mobility.  They need over $9,000 and as I'm typing this they have raised less than $300 toward that amount.  I'm hoping that together we can help them reach her goal.  It would mean the world to them and could be a life changing event for Emmi.

I know that times are hard and not everyone can donate, but please donate if you can ~ any amount could make that difference between reaching the goal and not reaching the goal.

It would also help if you could share the link to Emmi's GoFundMe page with others through your own blogs, Facebook, twitter, Instagram, message boards.....anywhere you can think to share!

Maybe, you even know of a church group or organization that would be willing to help.  Please share with them too!

If you donate and/or share the link, please leave a comment here.  I'll get together some prizes to raffle off to anyone that helps in any way.

Just think of the difference we could make if everyone who reads this donates one dollar and shares the post with someone else that donates one dollar and then they share.....and on and on.....

I know that you guys won't let me...or Emmi down!
